I walk among the faithful crowd, Their mouths speak love, their hearts too loud. Empty prayers and borrowed grace, But no true kindness in their face. The structure of this world is tight, A cage too small for my inner light. I do not fit, I never will, Among those who shout but remain still. I fill my mind with words of gold— Philosophers, poets, truths untold. I try to paint life beautiful, bright, But it fades again by evening’s light.
