उस का पहलू सरा-ए-फ़ानी है  

अपनी तामीर-ए-जान-ओ-दिल के लिए  

अपनी बुनियाद हम को ढानी है  

ये है लम्हों का एक शहर-ए-अज़ल  

याँ की हर बात ना-गहानी है  

चलिए ऐ जान-ए-शाम आज तुम्हें  

शम् इक क़ब्र पर जलानी है  

रंग की अपनी बात है वर्ना  

आख़िरश खून भी तो पानी है  

इक अबस का वजूद है जिससे  

ज़िंदगी को मुराद पानी है  

शाम है और सहन में दिल के
