**आ कि मेरी जान को क़रार नहीं है  

ताक़ते-बेदादे-इन्तिज़ार नहीं है  

देते हैं जन्नत हयाते-दहर के बदले  

नश्शा बअन्दाज़ा-ए-ख़ुमार नहीं है  


गिरिया निकाले है, तेरी बज़्म से मुझको  

हाए कि रोने पे भी इख़्तियार नहीं है  

हमसे अबस है गुमाने-रंजिशे-ख़ातिर  

ख़ाक में उश्शाक़ की गुबार नहीं है  


दिल से उठा लुत्फ़े-जल्वा-हाए-मा'नी  

गैर-ए-गुल आईना-ए-बहार नहीं है  

क़त्ल का मेरे किया है अहद, तो बारे वाए !  

अगर अहद उस्तवार नहीं है  


तूने क़सम मैकशी की खायी है  

'ग़ालिब' तेरी क़सम का कुछ भी एतबार नहीं है**
